Training to commence in February next year
Islamabad (Pakistan) – The Bangladesh Army will soon receive training from the Pakistani Army. A team led by a senior officer of Major General rank from Pakistani Army will oversee this training. The first phase of the programme is scheduled to begin in February 2025 and will be conducted at the ‘Army Training and Doctrine Command’ headquarters in Momenshahi Cantonment, Bangladesh. This phase will last nearly a year. Following this, Pakistani forces will train Bangladeshi troops across all ten commands of the Bangladesh Army.

Bangladeshi navy to conduct joint exercise with Pakistan
In February, the Bangladeshi Navy is set to participate in naval exercises with Pakistan at Karachi Port. The exercise, named “AMAN-2025,” marks Bangladesh’s first participation in such drills with Pakistan in 15 years. These exercises are organised biennially by Pakistan.
Potential threat to India
The growing military alliance between Pakistan and Bangladesh poses a significant threat to India’s strategic interests, particularly to the 60-km-wide Siliguri Corridor, often referred to as the “Chicken Neck Corridor,” which connects India’s mainland to its northeastern States. Defence experts warn that Pakistan’s involvement could increase the influence of extremist groups in Bangladesh’s northeastern regions. Additionally, Bhutan’s Doklam Plateau, located near the corridor, remains a strategic target for China. Yunus Government in Bangladesh and now entry of Pakistan’s Army into Bangladesh, creates a favourable situation for China, according to Indian defence analysts.
