Muslim man arrested for pressuring young women in office to convert

Incident in Nagpur

Nagpur (Maharashtra) – At a non-governmental organisation in Nagpur, a man identified as Riyaz Qazi pressured young women to follow Islam and issued threats to them. The Police have arrested Riyaz and registered a case against him. The court has remanded him to Police custody until 23 April. An investigation is underway to determine whether others were also involved with him. He runs NGOs named “Fikr Foundation” and “Padhe Hum Padhaye Hum.”

Two years ago, he had molested a young woman in the office. Riyaz would frequently speak about how good his religion is. Fed up with his behaviour, some young women even quit their jobs. A few days ago, he contacted the mother of a woman who had left the job. He also used objectionable language about other women. After learning this, the women filed a complaint with the Police. (All affected women everywhere should show such courage! Only then will the truth about such extremists be exposed! – Editor)

Editorial Perspective

  • When incidents of pressuring people for religious conversion are openly occurring everywhere, how will the Police control them? For this, it is essential that an anti- conversion law be enacted as soon as possible.
  • When Hindus speak about the greatness of their own Dharma, their voices are suppressed, while praise of Islam by Muslims is allowed—does this not reflect a double standard against Hindus in so-called secular India?
