CCTV footage from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, found to be directly transmitted to Pakistan !

New Delhi – Following the exposure of a Pakistan-linked espionage network in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, serious concerns have been raised regarding the security of CCTV systems. Through this network, footage from CCTV cameras installed at sensitive locations in Ghaziabad was reportedly being transmitted directly to Pakistan. In response to the incident, the central government has decided to conduct a nationwide inspection of CCTV networks. The Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with intelligence agencies and other departments, is preparing to initiate a comprehensive review of CCTV infrastructure across the country.
China-made cameras continue to pose a persistent hacking risk !
From April 1, only “hack-proof cameras” that pass government security certification will be permitted for sale. Currently, nearly 80% of CCTV cameras in India are of Chinese origin, posing an ongoing risk of data breaches. At present, only 53 models from 7 companies have been certified as secure and compliant with safety standards.
