Nagpur – Owing to the ongoing war in the Gulf countries, the supply of commercial LPG gas across the country has been disrupted. As a result, two factories producing ‘Parle-G’ biscuits in Vidarbha have shut down. Other ‘Parle-G’ establishments have also been affected. The production of ‘Haldiram’ and ‘Ajit Bakery’ in Nagpur has also suffered. At ‘Shivangi Bakers’ in Khamgaon (Buldhana), production of ‘cream’ and ‘glucose’ biscuits has been halted since 11 March. Consequently, 500 workers report for duty daily only to return without work. Due to lack of work, the establishment is paying them only half their wages, leading to anger among the workers.
The ripple effects of the Gulf War are hitting home hard. 🛑
From the closure of Parle-G factories to the collapse of local bakeries in Vidarbha due to LPG shortages, the crisis is real. 📉

In 125 hotels here, Chinese food items have been discontinued. In some places, chapatis have been removed from workers’ meals and replaced with increased quantities of rice. Contract workers, lacking proper accommodation, do not have access to domestic gas cylinders. With hotels and eateries shut, they are compelled to survive on just 1–2 fruits while continuing strenuous labour work.
