MNS Nashik workers questioning a foreign teacher who insulted the Marathi language

Nashik (Maharashtra) – A teacher from another state insulted the Marathi language at a private tuition class on Sharanpur Road. The teacher is accused of telling students sternly, “I will not teach in Marathi. If you wish to study here, you must learn in Hindi.” Refusing to teach in Marathi, he reportedly disparaged the language by calling it ‘rustic’.

Upon learning about the incident, workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) went to the tuition class, demanded an explanation from the management, and strongly objected to the derogatory remarks against Marathi.

During the ensuing dispute, the tuition class administrator lodged a complaint with the police, alleging assault and commotion. MNS workers have demanded that within 7 days the non-local teachers be asked to resign and be replaced with Marathi teachers. Otherwise, the party has warned of launching an intensified agitation in its own style.

A case has been registered at Sarkarwada Police Station against 5 office-bearers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena who had gone to seek an explanation.

Editorial Perspective

It is extremely regrettable that, despite living in Maharashtra, some people insult the Marathi language. It is highly unbecoming for those engaged in the noble profession of teaching to display such hatred towards a language. Strict action should be taken against those who insult Marathi. It is equally necessary for society to remain vigilant in protecting the pride of the Marathi language.
