
Kochi (Kerala) – A large quantity of explosives was seized from a truck loaded with onions in Malappuram district. Police confiscated more than 10,500 gelatin sticks, along with detonators and electric wires, from a truck parked near a brick-manufacturing unit in the Chemmad area. According to Police, the truck had been stationed within the premises of the brick unit. To avoid suspicion, the explosives were cleverly concealed beneath heaps of onion sacks. Around 245 boxes were seized from the spot.

1. Police received confidential information that explosives were being transported in a truck. Acting on this input, they intercepted and inspected the vehicle.
2. In this case, the truck driver Senthil Kumar has been taken into custody and the scope of the investigation has been widened. Such a large quantity of gelatin is sufficient to demolish multiple buildings and create terror across a large part of a city.
3. Police are investigating where the explosives were sourced from and where they were intended to be delivered. A detailed probe is also underway to ascertain whether they were meant for illegal mining or whether there was an intention to carry out terrorist activities.
