Dehradun (Uttarakhand) – New rules are set to be framed with regard to the Badrinath and Kedarnath Dhams. For this purpose, the Badrinath–Kedarnath Temple Committee will hold a meeting shortly. The proposed rules may include a ban on mobile phones within the temple area and a prohibition on the entry of non-Hindus. Committee President Hemant Dwivedi stated that if any person is found moving around with a mobile phone inside the temple area, the phone will be confiscated and a heavy fine will be imposed. This ban is being considered because people have been making videos within the temple premises.
According to the Committee, such rules already exist in many major temples across the country. Now, distinct rules will also be implemented at the Kedarnath and Badrinath Dhams. As per the new regulations, anyone seen using a mobile phone will be immediately detained. Lockers will be constructed inside the premises for this purpose; however, the location of the lockers and the rental charges have not yet been finalised. A boundary line will be created inside both Dhams. A designated boundary zone will be marked within the temple area, where checks may be conducted before entry. Beyond this boundary line, videography and photography of the temple will be strictly prohibited.
