Trump did not stop the India-Pakistan war : US Senator Mark Warner

US Senator points out Trump’s lies

Mark Warner

Washington (USA) – The role of the United States in reducing the tension between India and Pakistan in May 2025 is being unnecessarily exaggerated. There is no basis in the current information to suggest that this tension was resolved through US mediation alone. From what I have heard and read from members of the Indian Government, intelligence agencies and the ‘American Intelligence Committee’, it is clear that this issue has been resolved by India and Pakistan themselves, said Mark Warner, an influential US Senator and Chairman of the ‘Senate Intelligence Committee’. Warner’s remarks have pointed out the fallacy in Donald Trump’s claims. After ‘Operation Sindoor’ in May 2025, Trump had claimed that he stopped the India-Pakistan war.

In an exclusive interview with a news agency, Warner said that the situation was serious; but it was not new. Such tensions have arisen between India and Pakistan many times before. This incident followed a familiar pattern. This was once again related to a terrorist incident. Cross-border terrorism has been a long-standing concern. There are already channels of communication between New Delhi and Islamabad for such incidents.

Pakistan always holds India accountable

Criticizing Pakistan, Warner said that Pakistan always pays more attention to India than necessary and holds India responsible for its own economic challenges. On the contrary, India has now gone far ahead in this competition and the new generation there is in favour of strong relations with the United States.

Trump imposed tariffs on India as India didn’t give him credit for the ceasefire

Mark Warner expressed concern that overstating the US role could undermine trust among allies. The current tariff dispute with India also appears to have stemmed from dissatisfaction that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not give Trump enough credit for the ceasefire. Trump often overstates outcomes. Such language causes diplomatic damage and undermines trust between Washington and New Delhi. Warner also warned that overstating the US role could further complicate regional balances and destabilize Indo-US relations.

Iran’s nuclear capability has not been destroyed

Referring to the US attacks on Iran, Warner said that the US fighter jets did a great job; but they did not completely destroy Iran’s nuclear capability. Tehran can rebuild it in a few months.
