Woman claims she offered namaz to draw attention to a land dispute

Palakkad (Kerala) – A video showing a Muslim woman offering namaz in the middle of the road at IMA Junction here, thereby obstructing traffic, has gone viral on social media. The video is said to be from 28 January. Local residents requested the woman to move aside and offer namaz elsewhere; however, she refused.
In the circulated video, the woman, dressed in a white burqa, can be seen spreading a cloth and offering namaz in the middle of the road. She is also seen arguing with some motorists. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot, took the woman into custody and brought her to the police station.

During police questioning, the woman stated that she adopted this method to draw attention to a family land dispute. She has two children, and her husband’s family is allegedly refusing to give her legal rights and her share in the property. She told the police that despite repeated requests, no solution was forthcoming, and therefore she decided to protest by offering namaz on the road.
