Complaint filed against Actor Ranveer Singh in Bengaluru

  • Issue of making mockery of   sacred ‘Daiva’ tradition at a function in Goa

  • Accusation of hurting religious sentiments

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – An anti-Hindu presentation by actor Ranveer Singh in a programme held by  ‘the  International Film Festival of India’ in Goa seems to cost him dearly. On 28.11.2025, he made mockery of a scene from Rishabh Shetty’s film ‘Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1’ by imitating the sacred ‘Daiva’ tradition. The issue has now taken a legal turn as an FIR has been filed against Ranveer Singh at a Police Station in Bengaluru. (Actors are taking advantage of Hindus’ tolerant attitude ! Will these people dare to make mockery of Islamic traditions ? – Editor)

1. The complaint has been lodged by advocate Prashant Methal. It has been mentioned in the complaint that Ranveer Singh insulted a holy ‘Chamundi Daiva’ tradition followed in Karnataka’s coastal region, and has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. A case has been filed against Ranveer Singh under clauses 196, 299, and 302 of ‘Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita’.

2. The complainant has alleged that Ranveer Singh made mockery of sacred ‘Daiva’ tradition during his performance on the stage. The sensitive ‘Daiva’ tradition associated with faith was presented in a very garish, funny and denigrating manner. He mimicked the ‘mudras’ associated with ‘Panjurli’ and ‘Guliga’ ‘Daiva’ which the religious people felt offending.

3. The complainant has claimed that Ranveer Singh referred to ‘Chamundi Daiva’ as a ghost. Such comment is wrong and deriding the spiritual and cultural importance of this holy power.

4. The case has been filed with the Bengaluru Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The Court has taken a firm stand and ordered the High Ground Police Station to investigate the matter while registering FIR. The next hearing will be held on 08.04.2026.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Owing to indifferent Hindus, anyone and everyone makes mockery of Hindu Dharma, Holy scriptures, Deities, Saints and great national leaders and hurt Hindus’ sentiments. Hindus attend such programmes, appreciate the performers, and fill the artistes’ coffers. It is shameful for 100 crore Hindus.
  • Please note that nobody dares to do such things against the objects of worship of Muslims or Christians.
  • Hundreds of actors, directors, producers, etc. have denigrated Hindu Dharma; but we have not heard of any stern action taken against any of them; therefore, they insult Hindu Dharma again and again.
