The wife of the Muslim accused in the Nagpur violence case won, as majority of Hindus did not vote

Nagpur – Alisha, the wife of Fahim Shamim Khan, the main accused in the violence that took place here, won the Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections by 1,850 votes. Alisha, a member of MIM, surpassed the BJP candidate by 9295 votes. The total population of Hindus in that area is 64,500. The voters in this locality, 31,000 are Hindu voters, and 24,000 are Muslim. A large number of Muslims came out to vote; unfortunately, Hindus appeared in a smaller numbers; in short, despite being in the majority, Fahim’s wife Alisha won. Maybe the announcements from mosques caused the Muslims in that area to vote in large numbers. It is the talk of the town that the percentage of voting increased due to those announcements.

Faheem, the main accused in the Nagpur violence, had earlier contested the Lok Sabha elections from Nagpur against the BJP's Nitin Gadkari. He could secure only 5,000 votes then in Nagpur city with a population of 25 lakh.
