‘Lawrence Bishnoi gang operates in Canada on behalf of India’

Alleged confidential report of Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

Ottawa (Canada) – A confidential report of Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police has allegedly claimed that India’s notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang is operating in Canada on behalf of the Indian Government. Canada-based media outlet Global News has published a report in this regard.

Claim of links between the gang and the Indian Government

According to a two-page report prepared by the national security wing of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Bishnoi gang has been described as a violent transnational criminal organisation with a steadily expanding presence in Canada and several other countries. The report repeatedly refers to the gang’s alleged links with the Indian Government. It states that the Bishnoi gang is driven not by any political or religious ideology, but purely by greed. The gang is allegedly involved in crimes such as extortion, drug trafficking, money laundering, and contract killings. It uses violence to advance criminal interests and allegedly operates on behalf of the Indian Government.

The Bishnoi gang is said to have originated in student politics in Punjab, India. Its chief, Lawrence Bishnoi, has been lodged in prison in India since 2015, yet is accused of continuing to operate the gang from jail.

Allegations against the Indian Government

The report further claims that Indian Government operatives are using organised crime syndicates such as the Bishnoi gang to target Khalistan-supporting leaders in Canada.

In support of this claim, the report refers to the killing of Sukhdool Singh in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in September 2023. Responsibility for this murder was claimed by the Bishnoi gang.

Opposition from Sikh organizations

Spokesperson Balpreet Singh of the World Sikh Organization of Canada alleged that the Canada Government is suppressing the issue due to political and commercial interests, thereby endangering the safety of Canadian citizens.

It was also noted that in September last year, the Canada Government had included the Bishnoi gang in its list of terrorist organisations. However, that notification did not make any reference to the Indian Government.

Editorial Perspective

Instead of fabricating such reports, Canada should take action against Khalistani terrorists operating on its soil.
