Eyewitness said,
1. Deepu Chandra Das was a hardworking young man; but some people were jealous of his success. His colleagues who could not get jobs, out of a sense of revenge, falsely accused Deepu. To incite the crowd, the rumour that Deepu Chandra Das had insulted the Prophet was deliberately spread. Later, the Police also clarified that no evidence of Prophet’s insult was found against Deepu Chandra Das; but by then, Deepu was already murdered.
2. On the day of the incident, Deepu Chandra Das was called to a section of the factory. There, a resignation letter was forcibly taken from him. At that time, not only the factory employees were present there, but also some strangers from outside. After this, Deepu was pushed in front of a violent mob standing outside the factory entrance. The mob was ready to attack him.
3. As soon as he came out, the mob assaulted Deepu brutally with sticks, kicks and punches. He was repeatedly beaten on his face and body, causing him to bleed; but the cruelty of the mob did not stop there. Deepu Chandra Das was dragged for about a kilometre, then tied to a tree and burned alive. All this happened in broad daylight; but due to fear, no one could come to his aid.
