Demand to bring out ‘White Paper’ on the Maharashtra temple-land issue

Nagpur, 11 December – On 11.12.2025, Mr. Vijay Wadettiwar, the Congress Legislative Party leader has alleged that there has been a large-scale scam involving temple lands across Maharashtra and has demanded that the State Government release a comprehensive ‘White Paper’ on the issue. Speaking during the discussions on the ‘Hyderabad Inam and Cash Grant (Repeal and Amendment) Bill in the ongoing winter session, presented by Mr Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the State Revenue Minister, MrWadettiwar made the above demand.
Mr. Vijay Wadettiwar stated that
1. Presently, 50 % of temple lands in the State have been illegally taken over.
2. Lands are being disposed off by manipulating papers in collusion with the administrative officials and political leaders. This is a very serious; therefore, the Government should publish a ‘White Paper’ on the temple lands.
3. He also alleged that there were some reportsthat an MP had taken a Nizam-era Inam land in the name of his driver. Was this land worth 159 crore usurped or purchased ?Since there is so much corruption, the Government should release a ‘White Paper’ on the remaining lands in Maharashtra.
