Religious places of minorities in poor conditions

Islamabad (Pakistan) – A report by a parliamentary committee in Pakistan has revealed how serious the condition of the Hindu community there is. The number of places of worship for Hindus and Sikhs is continuously decreasing and out of the 1,817 temples and gurdwaras that currently exist, only 37 are in good condition. Out of the 1,817, there are 1,285 temples and 32 gurdwaras. Due to deliberate neglect by the government and the steadily declining population of the Hindu and Sikh communities, many of these temples and gurdwaras are in a state of collapse.
1. The newly appointed convener of the committee formed in this regard, Danish Kumar, assured that ‘we will try to uphold the constitutional guarantees regarding the security of minorities’.
2. On this occasion, he highlighted that minorities in Pakistan are not being given their constitutional rights and expressed the need for immediate implementation of policy reforms for equal justice.
3. Committee member Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani strongly criticized the ‘Evacuate Trust Property Board’. He said that it has completely failed to maintain the temples and gurdwaras under the jurisdiction of this board.
4. The committee members expressed confidence that now the rights of minorities will not be violated from this platform.
