Urban Naxal supporters hold protest in Delhi backing notorious Maoist militant Hidma!

  • Attack on Police Using Pepper Spray

  • 23 Arrested

  • Protest Held Under the Pretext of Air Pollution Crisis in Delhi

New Delhi – Under the guise of protesting against Delhi’s air pollution, a group of youths gathered at India Gate on the evening of 23rd November and staged a demonstration in support of the wanted Maoist militant Madvi Hidma. They raised slogans such as:

“Madvi Hidma Amar Rahe!”
“Kill One Hidma, a Hidma Will Rise in Every Home!”
“Madvi Hidma Zindabad!”
“Lal Salam to Hidma!”

They held banners and pictures praising Hidma. One placard compared him to tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda, describing him as the “protector of water, forests, and land.”

When police attempted to disperse them, the urban Maoist protestors attacked officers using pepper spray — a chemical irritant normally used for self-defence. Several police personnel suffered injuries. Police have now arrested 23 individuals in connection with the incident. (Using environmental activism as a cover to glorify Naxal terrorists is the latest tactic of urban Maoist networks. The glorification of terrorist ideology under the mask of ‘social activism’ must be stopped immediately. – Editor)

Clashes with Police during dispersal !

When police tried to stop the protestors, they forcibly removed barricades and blocked the road. Police officials said that several ambulances and doctors were stuck in the resulting traffic congestion. Despite repeated requests, the protestors refused to move. As officers attempted to intervene, some protestors sprayed pepper spray directly at them, leading to injuries and hospitalization of certain policemen. Eventually, the area was cleared and the group was removed.

Police reaction Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Devesh Kumar stated:

“This is the first time we have seen such an incident. The protesters directly attacked police personnel. Legal action is underway against all those involved.”

Who Was Hidma?

Madvi Hidma — a wanted Maoist commander with a reward of ₹1 crore — was killed on 18th November during an encounter with security forces in Eluru Sitarama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. For over 25 years, he operated in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh and was the mastermind behind at least 25 major Maoist attacks.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Those who protest in support of Maoists responsible for killing countless soldiers are themselves Maoists — such individuals deserve the harshest punishment, including death penalty!
  • Authorities must investigate who planted Maoist ideology in the minds of these youth — and take strict action against those individuals as well!
