Fourth intrusion incident in the last one week

Kolkata (Bengal) – During a routine patrol in the northern Bay of Bengal, the Indian Coast Guard seized a Bangladeshi fishing boat that was operating without permission inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
1.A suspicious vessel was seen abruptly changing course inside Indian maritime limits. The Coast Guard team intercepted it, and questioning revealed that it was a Bangladeshi fishing boat. The 28 fishermen on board had no permission to fish within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
2.The presence of fishing nets, ice boxes and freshly caught fish indicated that they were actively exploiting India’s marine resources.
3.All 28 fishermen were handed over to the Marine Police for further legal action. This is the fourth Bangladeshi fishing boat caught in the past week, highlighting the growing problem of illegal fishing in the region.
