Punjab Police foil terror plot : 10 Arrested

Grenade attacks were to be carried out on instructions from the ISI, coordinated from Malaysia

Ludhiana (Punjab) – The Punjab Police have foiled a grenade-attack conspiracy being operated from Malaysia. Ten individuals have been arrested. This module was being run from Malaysia under the directions of Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence). The terrorists were preparing to carry out blasts in crowded areas of Punjab. The terror network was busted by the Police on 13th November.

1. Police sources revealed that the accused were in constant touch with their handlers in Pakistan. Three individuals based in Malaysia – ‘Ajay’ alias ‘Ajay Malaysia’, Jais Behbal and Pawandeep – were relaying messages and instructions. The process to issue Red Corner Notices against them is underway. All three hail from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and currently reside in Malaysia. Their direct links with the ISI have been confirmed.

2. The plot came to light after the arrest of Kuldeep Singh in Muktsar. Following this breakthrough, the police also arrested Shekhar and Ajay.

3. Interrogation of the trio led to the arrest of Amarika Singh, Paraminder alias ‘Cheeri’, and Vijay. Along with them, the police have also arrested Sukhjeet Singh alias Sukh Brar, Sukhwinder Singh, Karanvir Singh alias Vicky, and Sajan Kumar alias Sanju from Faridkot and Sri Ganganagar. All of them were working as local suppliers and transporters.

Drug-trafficking routes used to supply hand grenades !

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma stated that interrogation has revealed a disturbing pattern. The facilitators in Malaysia had earlier used established drug-trafficking routes, which were later repurposed to build a supply chain for hand- grenades and to prepare for the planned attacks.
