Terrorism has no place in Islam !

Statement by Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan in the Congress government in Karnataka

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Terrorism has no place in Islam. Terrorists cannot be Muslims, said Zameer Ahmed Khan, a minister in the Congress government in Karnataka. He was talking to reporters here. ‘According to Islam, a person who commits terrorism is not a Muslim. If he does so, he will die of worms,’ he said.

Zameer Khan asked, ‘How did the blast happen a day before the Bihar elections? Who will benefit from this?’

Editorial Perspectives

  • If Islam truly has no place for terrorism, then why is it that most terror attacks around the world are carried out by Muslims ? What mindset drives this ? And why are Hindus singled out as targets in India ? Jamir Khan must answer these questions !
  • If that is so, then why do Islamic religious texts contain terms such as ‘Jihad’—a call to wage war against non-Muslims for the sake of Islam—and ‘Kital fi Sabilillah’, meaning fighting to protect the Muslim community and for Allah ? And why are these ideas taught in madarasas across India ? Why does Khan choose to stay silent on this ?
