Pak Defence Minister issues retaliatory warning after the Islamabad blast

Islamabad (Pakistan) – Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that action could be taken against terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan. He made this remark following the attacks that took place in Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 11 November. The suicide bombing in Islamabad claimed 12 lives and left 36 injured.

1.Speaking to Pakistan’s news channel Geo News, Khawaja Asif said, “If God wills, we will certainly retaliate.” He added that the possibility of strikes on terrorist bases inside Afghanistan cannot be ruled out. After the Islamabad attack, Pakistan is being compelled to take action.

2.Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif blamed India for the attack, while Defence Minister Khawaja Asif held the Afghan Government responsible. Asif claimed that terrorists are infiltrating Pakistan from Afghan soil. He stated that between 2,500 and 3,000 terrorists were sent into Pakistan last year, and that 55 per cent of those killed in counter-operations were Afghans.

3.A day before the Islamabad blast, the Pakistani military had foiled a terrorist assault on the military college in Wanna, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Two terrorists were killed in the operation, while three others were cornered inside a building on the campus. Around 16 civilians and several soldiers were injured in the attack.
