Terrorists planned to use 32 vehicles to carry out mass killings in the country

Revealed during the investigation of the Delhi blast

New Delhi – The investigation into the bomb blast near the Red Fort has revealed that terrorists were preparing to carry out coordinated attacks across different parts of the country. As part of the plan, 32 four-wheeler vehicles loaded with explosives were to be readied for attacks. Police have seized two of these vehicles. Although no explosives were found in them, it is suspected that explosives earlier found in Faridabad were intended to be used in the operation. The involvement of 32 vehicles indicates that a large number of terrorists were part of the conspiracy; hence, the Police are conducting raids at multiple locations.

According to the preliminary investigation, eight terrorists were preparing to trigger blasts at four different locations. Each terrorist had been assigned the responsibility of a particular city. The accused had planned to transport multiple bombs simultaneously.

Fertiliser worth ₹3 lakh purchased for bomb-making

Sources revealed that the terrorists had collected nearly ₹20 lakh in cash, which was handed over to Dr Umar. From this amount, they purchased about 20 quintals of NPK fertiliser worth around ₹3 lakh from Gurugram, Nuh, and surrounding areas. NPK fertiliser (a mixture of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) can be used to make explosives.

Confirmation that Dr Umar died in the blast

It has now been confirmed through investigation that Dr Mohammad Umar Nabi, the terrorist involved in the explosion inside a vehicle near the Red Fort, died in the blast. Human remains found in the vehicle—including Umar’s teeth, bones, blood-soaked clothes, and part of his leg—were recovered. Umar’s DNA matched his mother’s DNA, confirming his death.

India is fully capable of investigating the blast; it does not need our assistance: USA

“We have expressed readiness to assist India in investigating the terrorist attack; however, I believe India is fully capable of conducting this investigation. Its agencies do not require our help and are doing excellent work,” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, praising Indian authorities.

Editorial Perspective

Although these mass killings were partially prevented due to the alertness of security agencies, India has been living under the shadow of jihadi terrorism for many years. To change this situation, a decisive strike on jihadi ideology has become essential. To achieve this, adopting strategies similar to those used by China is now imperative !
