Birbhum (Bengal) – The Bengal Police have seized 20,000 gelatin sticks from Birbhum District. An investigation is underway to determine whether these were meant to be used for triggering explosions in Bengal. Security has been tightened across the State, particularly at crowded places such as bus stands, railway stations and marketplaces.
1.According to police reports, 20,000 gelatin sticks packed in 50 bags were seized from a pickup van transporting goods. The vehicle was coming from Pakur in Jharkhand towards Bengal. It was intercepted by the police during a routine check on the Sultanpur–Nalhati road. One person has been arrested in this case and is being interrogated.
2.Gelatin sticks are typically used in mining operations. However, they can be converted into deadly explosives and detonated with the help of a detonator.
