Realisation dawns on US President Donald Trump

Washington (USA) – President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that United States doesn’t have workers with certain talents to fill jobs needed domestically; therefore, skilled workers from other countries are required.
1. Fox News’ Laura Ingraham asked Trump whether his administration would reduce H1 B-visas over concerns it would reduce wages for American workers; he agreed but told Ingraham that talents will have to be brought from outside.
2. When the host responded that there are plenty of talented people in America, Trump replied, “No, we don’t have certain talents in special fields. We cannot select our unemployed people and put them in a missile factory.”
With reduction in foreign students, half of the universities will have to close down – Trump
1. Trump has now taken a stand against his policy on foreign students. He said that students from other countries will have to be given permission to study in America because they not only strengthen the education system in the country but also support financial welfare of the colleges. If the number of students coming from China and other countries is reduced, about half of the colleges in the country will have to be closed down.
2. “We cannot stop 50% students coming from across the world coming to America as it will have a serious impact on our colleges and universities which I don’t want. I feel it is good to have foreign students and I want to have good relations with the world,” Trump said.
America had stopped admissions six months ago to curb anti-Jew and communist ideology in the universities and interviews for new visas were also stopped from May 2025 for foreign students.
3. Trump administration will strictly verify social media accounts of students going to America and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued instructions to American consulates across the world against conducting new interviews for student visas.
4. He further stated that till the next guidelines are not declared, permission may not be granted for new appointments for visa to students under emergency or under ‘exchange visitor’ programmes (work and study-based exchange programmes requiring non-immigrant visas for certain period for programmes related to education, art and science in the USA)
5. The Trump administration’s decision on international students has led to sudden increase in problems in obtaining visa and refusal of visa, the number of students going from India to America for education has gone down by 70% and they are searching for further options for education in other countries.
