Being a Hindu means being responsible for India : Sarsanghchalak Param Pujya Dr Mohanji Bhagwat

RSS aims for national unity, not political power

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – “Being a Hindu means being responsible for India,” said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Param Pujya Dr Mohanji Bhagwat during a lecture in Bengaluru, marking the centenary year of the RSS.

Addressing the gathering, Param Pujya Sarsanghchalak emphasised that the RSS’s objective is not political dominance but national service and unity. “The RSS has no desire for power; our aim is only to serve,” he said. “The objective of the RSS is to unite the Hindu community not for political strength, but for the glory of the nation. Hindus should come together for the glory of India. There is no non-Hindu in India, for everyone’s ancestors are the same, and the nation’s original culture is Hindu.”

The British did not give us our nationality – Param Pujya Dr Bhagwat

Highlighting India’s ancient civilisational identity, Param Pujya Dr Bhagwat stated, “When the RSS works for Hindu unity, some ask, ‘Why are you doing this ?’ Every Hindu is responsible for India. Our nationality was not given to us by the British — we have been Hindus since ancient times. Every nation has a core culture, and in India’s case, that culture is Hindu.”

RSS has faced opposition for decades

Reflecting on the organisation’s century-long journey, Param Pujya Dr Bhagwat noted, “The path of the RSS has never been easy. For nearly 60 to 70 years, it faced severe opposition. The RSS was banned twice; its volunteers were attacked and even killed. Many efforts were made to halt its growth, yet the volunteers stood firm and undeterred. Despite innumerable obstacles, they continued their work selflessly. This perseverance earned the trust of society, enabling the RSS to grow steadily over a hundred years.”
