New Delhi – According to information provided by the Government of India, from the beginning of 2025 till now, the United States has deported a total of 2,790 Indian citizens who were living there illegally. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that these individuals were repatriated only after their identity and citizenship were verified. The entire process was carried out within the legal and diplomatic framework established between India and the US. Similarly, this year around 100 Indian citizens have been deported from the United Kingdom after confirming their nationality.

Meanwhile, the number of Indians attempting to illegally enter the United States has dropped to a four-year low. According to recent data from the US Customs and Border Protection Department, between October 2024 and September 2025, 34,146 Indians were caught trying to illegally cross into the US. (During the same period, how many Bangladeshi infiltrators were caught in India ? Why can’t India do what the US does ? – Editor) This number represents a 62% decrease compared to the previous fiscal year, when 90,415 Indians were caught. It marks the sharpest annual decline since 2021.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Just as the US has deported so many illegal Indian immigrants in the last 10 months, the Government of India should disclose how many Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators India have been deported in the same period !
  • Those who have returned from the US should be charged and punished in India, as their actions have brought disrepute to the country at the global level.
