Congress leader sings Bangladesh’s national anthem during party meeting !

Silchar (Assam) – During a Congress party meeting, senior Congress leader Bidhu Bhushan Das sang Bangladesh’s national anthem ‘Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Bhalobashi’. The incident took place at the local Congress office, Indira Bhavan, in Sribhoomi district while a meeting of the Karimganj (Sribhoomi) District Seva Dal executive committee was underway. Das, who is a former district president of the Seva Dal, began his speech by singing the song. The song, penned by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1905 during the first partition of Bengal under British rule, is now Bangladesh’s national anthem.

Reacting to this, Assam Minister Krishnendu Paul from the BJP Government said, “I have learned that anything can happen in Congress. The party has become completely directionless. Its leaders no longer even know when or what they should sing.” He added that the police will be urged to investigate the incident after examining the video footage, and appropriate action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true.

Congress defends by calling it a ‘political conspiracy’

Congress dismissed the entire controversy as a ‘political plot’. Shahadat Ahmed Chowdhury, head of the district Congress committee’s media department, defended Bidhu Bhushan Das, stating that he merely sang a Rabindra Sangeet, not Bangladesh’s national anthem. Before beginning his speech, Das had clearly mentioned that he would sing a song by Tagore. (‘Jana Gana Mana’, India’s national anthem, was also written by Tagore. Why didn’t Das recall that ? – Editor) Chowdhury further said that the song is part of India’s cultural heritage and that Das, who hoists the Tricolour every Independence Day at Indira Bhavan, is a patriotic man who could never sing another country’s national anthem. He added that the controversy was deliberately created to defame the Congress.

Editorial Perspective

Tomorrow, Congress leaders may go as far as singing Pakistan’s national anthem to appease Muslim voters ! Hence, there is a dire need to make India politically free from Congress !
