Issue of unauthorised dargah in Shaniwar Wada premises

Mumbai – The rule applied at Haji Ali, should also be applied at Hindus’ places. Will recitation of Hanuman Chalisa be accepted at Haji Ali. You say devout Hindu activists spoil the atmosphere; then, who is spoiling the atmosphere here ? Why do you want to offer Namaz at Hindus’ places ? Are there fewer mosques ? The people of Jihadi mentality are spoiling the atmosphere. What is wrong if devout Hindu organisations come together ? It will be tit for tat, stated BJP leader and minister Nitesh Rane. A video of a few Muslim women offering .Namaz at Shaniwar Wada was made viral by BJP MP Dr (Mrs) Medha Kulkarni and the place was later, purified. In this background, Nitesh Rane gave his opinion while talking to the media.

Shaniwar Wada was once inhabited by Mastani – Sachin Sawant, Congress leader

Mumbai – Mastani was staying at Shaniwar Wada should not be forgotten. There is a mosque near this Wada from the time of Peshava’s regime. The air from the mosque comes here; so are you going to purify your nose with Gomutra, asked Congress leader Sachin Sawant while speaking to the media. Peshwa Sardars had hoisted the ‘Union Jack’ by removing the ‘Patka’ they wore from the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Therefore, at such places, if some women chanted the name of the Creator, why should it  cause problems for others ? Who is stopping you from sitting and chanting at that place ? He said further.

NCP leader Mrs Rupali Patil has demanded that a case should be filed against MP Dr (Mrs) Medha Kulkarni. Praying or offering ‘Dua’, both are symbols of faith. Her action at Shaniwar Wada can disturb communal harmony; therefore, Police should immediately take action against her. Creating communal hatred is a serious matter, stated Rupali Patil. Why doesn’t Sawant say a word about the mentality of religious fanatics who block roads to offer Namaz, construct dargah anywhere in public places ?)

Case filed against unknown women

Pune – Shaniwar Wada is a structure under the Archaeology Department of India (ASI). On receiving a complaint from officers of ASI, a case has been filed at the Vishrambaug Police Station, against the unknown women. On 19.10.2025, a warning was given to the district administration to remove the dargah and the board of Hazarat Shah Maqbool displayed at this place, within a week. In this background, Police patrolling has been beefed up in Shaniwar Wada area.
