Sadhvi Pragya Singh’s call over ‘love jihad’

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Former Member of Parliament Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has urged that if a daughter does not heed her parents and intends to go with a man of another religion, the family must take a firm stand to stop her and to set her on the right path. If necessary, she said, the family should scold and restrain her so that her future remains secure. If, despite all efforts, the daughter continues to defy the family, then her leg should be broken. If it is required for her future safety, the family must not hesitate to use physical force, she stated in a video addressing the issue of ‘love jihad’.
Sadhvi Pragya’s statement on Love Jihad has sparked debate:
“If a daughter runs off with a man of another faith, parents should break her leg.”

Sadhvi Pragya further said that as a girl grows up she begins to take independent decisions and may sometimes attempt to run away from home. In such circumstances the family must remain vigilant and make every possible effort to ensure she follows the right path. If it becomes necessary to be strict in order to bring her to reason, they should not hold back, she added.
