Reactions of politicians following verdict in the Malegaon bomb blast case

Congress must apologise – Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister

The then Congress Government falsely implicated Hindutvanishtha (Hindutva adherents) individuals in the Malegaon bomb blast case. Now they have been acquitted as innocent. Congress must apologise for this. During that time, there was an attempt to portray “Saffron Terrorism”, but the narrative was false, which has now been exposed through the Court. The narrative of Saffron Terrorism has failed. Police acted as per instructions of the then Government, hence they cannot be blamed. There was pressure on Police machinery. The Congress-led Government conspired to create a narrative of Hindu Terrorism as a counter to the exposure of Islamic Terrorism. This was pure vote-bank politics targeting Hindus.

Those who deliberately framed Hindutvanishtha individuals must apologise to the Hindu society – Nitesh Rane, Minister for Fisheries and Ports Development, BJP

Those who called it “Hindu Terrorism” have now been disgraced with no face left to show. Hindus do not convert others to increase their religion, nor do they destroy places of worship to build their own. Those who maligned the Hindu society have been silenced. No one should dare to defame Hindu Dharma again. It is now clear that terrorism and jihad bear only a green colour. Many Hindutvanishtha activists have been falsely implicated in numerous cases in the past. Under a Hindu-centric Government, such injustice will no longer be possible. In our Hindu Rashtra, Hindus will remain secure. Those who deliberately framed Hindutvanishtha individuals must seek forgiveness from the Hindu society.

Congress-NCP Government of that time engaged in appeasement politics for votes – Sudhir Mungantiwar, Senior BJP Leader and Former Minister

It is acceptable if criminals suffer, but innocent people should never be harassed. During the Congress-NCP rule, appeasement politics was carried out solely for votes. Terrorists were emerging through a particular religion. Allegations of Hindu Terrorism or Saffron Terrorism were made, but the meaning of saffron should be understood. “Bha” means fearless, “Ga” means egoless, and “Va” means devoid of lust. Therefore, Saffron Terrorism cannot exist.

The Court’s verdict is a slap on Congress’s perverse politics – Keshav Upadhye, BJP Spokesperson

In this case, no evidence was ever presented. The verdict is a clear slap on Congress’s distorted politics. Based on scant information, Hindus were deliberately maligned. The Congress Government of that time must apologise to Hindus.

Kirit Somaiya, BJP – Hindus were deliberately framed in this case purely for vote-bank politics.

Where are the real culprits? – Harshvardhan Sapkal, Congress Leader

Harshvardhan Sapkal, Congress Leader

Seven accused have been acquitted, but where are the real culprits? Those who are guilty must be caught and punished. Late Police Officer Hemant Karkare, who was killed in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack, had uncovered several leads in the Malegaon case. What happened to those findings? It is now the Government’s responsibility to trace and bring the real culprits to justice.

What action will the Court take against those who presented false evidence? – Imtiaz Jaleel, AIMIM State President

Imtiaz Jaleel, AIMIM State President

If seven accused have been acquitted, then who carried out this bomb blast? Sadhvi Pragya and Army officers were implicated in this case. If they have been acquitted, then this raises questions about the judicial process itself. If there was no evidence, what action will the Court take against those who submitted false evidence?

“Malegaon verdict reflects failure of investigating agencies” – Prithviraj Chavan, Senior Congress Leader and Former Chief Minister

Prithviraj Chavan, Senior Congress Leader and Former Chief Minister

The first terrorist incident occurred in the Nathuram Godse case. Terrorism has no religion, caste, or sect. A terrorist is simply a criminal. Do not use the term “Saffron Terrorism”; that word is sacred. The Malegaon verdict represents the failure of investigating agencies. (This is not just a failure of the agencies but also of the then Congress Government that exerted pressure on them – something Chavan is deliberately hiding here. – Editor)
