Hints of a change in eligibility criteria

Mumbai, March 17 (IANS)– Some people with good financial condition have been enrolled under the ‘Mazi Ladki Bahin Yojana’. We will not take back money from anyone; but we will have to amend this. Thus, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has indicated that, bogus names will be removed from the scheme and the eligibility criteria will be changed. Ajit Pawar informed about this on 17th march while answering during the debate on budget.
“The money will be paid as per the announcement made during the elections. There is still a five- year period. We will not stop this scheme; however, this scheme is meant for women from poorer sections. It will not only be for financial assistance but also for women empowerment. We will ensure that the money given for this scheme will be used as capital and used to strengthen the economy of the state.”
Target of Rs 40 lakh crore investment and 50 lakh jobs in 5 years !
Deputy Chief Minister further said that the target is to invest Rs 40 lakh crore and create 50 lakh jobs in the next five years. We will continue with the social welfare schemes whatever the expenditure, they will not be shut down. We will try to augment revenueand cut down non- performing expenses to meet the revenue deficit. We will bring tax evaders into the tax process without causing further trouble to the people. We are taking strict measures to reduce the revenue deficit.
The budget has been prepared keeping the year 2029 in mind !
Deputy Chief Minister further said that only three states in the country — Maharashtra, Gujarat and Odisha — have a debt figure of less than 20 per cent. Maharashtra’s contribution to the big goal of development of the country set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be huge. The budget will be used to realize the dream of a developed India. The budget has been prepared keeping in mind the year 2029 and not just one year.
