Ghaziabad : Turab Nagar Market’s name changed to ‘Sitaram Bazaar’

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) – The process of changing names is currently going on rapidly in the State. In this regard, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation changed the name of ‘Turab Nagar Market’ to ‘Sitaram Bazaar’ in a recent board meeting. A new name board was also put up on the market on March 9th. There were continuous discussions about changing the earlier name, which was based on the Arabic word ‘Turab’. Now that action has been taken on this, traders have also expressed happiness.

1. There is no word such as ‘Turab’ in Hindi. After searching, it was found that Turab is an Arabic word. In Arabic, Turab means soil or mud. This market sells cosmetics, wedding dresses and other items for women and girls, hence the name ‘Sitaram Bazar’. The name of the chowk near this market was earlier ‘Pakoda Chowk’, which has now been changed to ‘Ayodhya Chowk’.

2. Apart from this, the Municipal Corporation has named the chowk in Rajnagar as ‘Bhagwan Parashuram Chowk’.

3. Efforts have been going on for a long time to change the name of Ghaziabad District. This discussion started when ‘Allahabad’ was renamed ‘Prayagraj’ in the year 2018. The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation had approved this proposal and sent it to the Government. The options of renaming the District as ‘Gajnagar’ or ‘Harnandinagar’ are being considered.

4. Mahant Narayan Giri, the head of Dudheshwarnath Temple, has met the Chief Minister requesting to change Ghaziabad’s name. He has suggested three names. These include ‘Gajprastha’, ‘Dudheshwarnagar’ and ‘Harnandipuram’.
