Kolkata (Bengal) – The Kolkata Municipality cancelled the holiday for Vishwakarma Puja and added 2 days to the holidays of Eid. The Municipality had given this order for Hindi medium schools. This decision was opposed by the BJP and the people. After the opposition Kolkata Municipality withdrew the order, saying that it was careless mistake. Similarly, the officer of the Education Department who issued the order has been served with a show cause notice. The Municipal Commissioner said that the cancellation of holiday was given without getting consent of the senior officers.
The order authorised by Firhad Hakim the Mayor of Kolkata and leader of Trinamool Congress – Alleges BJP
This order was given on the 25thof February. The order has been signed by Chief Administrator of Kolkata Municipality’s Education Department. On this BJP’s Jagannath Chattopadhyay asked who had instructed the Education Department’s Chief Administrator to give this order? No officer in Bengal can give such an order by himself. This happened because the work in Kolkata Municipality is in the hands of the Firhad Hakim, Mayor of Kolkata and leader of the Trinamool Congress.
