Bangladesh’s mean retort to EAM Dr Jaishankar’s statement

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – India’s External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar had said that Bangladesh must decide what kind of relationship it wants with India. In response to this, Touhid Hossain, the Foreign Affairs Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim Government, gave a mean reply, saying, ‘Our decision on this matter is very clear. We want good working relations with India based on mutual respect and common interests. India must decide what kind of relationship it wants with Bangladesh’.
Our focus is on improving relations
Hossain further said that Dr Jaishankar had claimed that ‘some people in the Bangladesh Government are making comments against India’. Such comments are being made from both sides. One Indian minister keeps making statements. While assuming such comments will continue, we are attempting to develop our relationship. Therefore, no matter what is being said, our focus remains solely on improving the relations between the two countries.
Statements of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are provocative
Referring to statements by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Touhid Hossain said that the comments made by our former Prime Minister against the current interim Government at an event organised by India are indeed harmful to the relations between the two countries. Bangladesh is already facing instability in its region. However, it has been proven that the speech of our former Prime Minister is like adding fuel to the fire. This is known to everyone.
Editorial PerspectivesWhen will India have the courage to show Bangladesh its real worth, which thrives at India’s mercy ? |
India has no connection with the minority community in BangladeshIn response to a question, Hossain said that Dr Jaishankar once again made a statement regarding the security of minorities in Bangladesh. Indian media are responsible for the news about minorities in Bangladesh. India has no connection with the minority community in Bangladesh. This is an internal matter for Bangladesh. The minority community in India is a concern for them. Both of us must adopt a policy of non-interference on these issues. We are seriously considering the issues related to the minority communities in Bangladesh. Editorial PerspectiveAttacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are not just a national issue, but a religious issue, because they are being attacked as Hindus. India should firmly assert that it will raise its voice if Hindus anywhere in the world are attacked because of their religion ! |
