50% of the world’s Hindus have taken bath in Maha Kumbha

More than 60 crore devotees have taken bath in Maha Kumbha Festival

Prayagraj – 50% Hindus have taken bath in the world’s largest religious festival, Maha Kumbha here. According to World Population Review and Pew Research, India’s population is approximately 143 crore (1.43 billion). Among them 110 crore (1.10 billion) follow Hindu Dharma. The population of the followers of Sanatan Dharma worldwide is 120 crore. If we compare the number of devotees taking bath in the Maha Kumbha with the followers of Sanatan Dharma worldwide, we can say that 50% people have taken holy bath in the sacred Triveni Sangam. If we compare the number of those who have taken holy bath within the country’s population, the number is 55%. Which means from the total population of India the number of bathers in Triveni Sangam is more than 55%. Since 13thJanuary, when the Mela began, up to 22ndFebruary, more than 60 crore devotees have taken holy Sangam bath.

The government had estimated 40 crore devotees to come to Prayagraj during the entire period of Maha Kumbha, however the number of devotees is 20 crore more than the estimated number. Even now, more than 1.5 to 1.50 crore devotees are taking bath here every day. Maha Shivaratri will be the concluding day of Maha Kumbha. Till then, the devotees are expected to arrive in larger number for the holy bath. It expected that the maximum number of devotees will be coming on the Maha Shivaratri Parv Snan.
