Rampage at Delhi’s Jama Masjid metro station on ‘Shab-e-Barat’ night

Metro administration tries to defend Muslims

(‘Shab-e-Barat’ is a Muslim festival during which they receive Allah’s blessings and seek forgiveness for sins committed.)

New Delhi – A video of Delhi Metro has gone viral on social media sites. In this video it can be seen that many Muslims have gone on a rampage at Jama Masjid Metro Station. These people can be seen jumping over the exit gate of the station. After widespread criticism of these actions of the Muslims, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation came out with a statement in this regard. Metro administration has mentioned that the incident in the video happened on the night of Shab-e-Barat (13th February) around 11.30 p.m. Owing to the festival, there was an increased crowding at the station and therefore there was mobbing at the exit gate.

The administration further informed that this matter went on for only a few minutes after which things returned to normalcy. The situation at the station never went out of control as there were enough number of security personnel and other employees present. (Even if the mobbing was for a few minutes, such undisciplined behaviour caused distress to other passengers present at the time. What about that ? Basically Muslims are not at all afraid of the administration, is what this incident displays. Why doesn’t the administration say anything about that ? – Editor)
