Outsider Muslims banned from offering namaz

  • Decision of Khoni villagers in Kalyan, Thane district, against the backdrop of increasing atrocities

  • Every Friday, one and a half thousand Muslims would come for prayers

Kalyan, Maharashtra – Seeing the atrocities against women everywhere and the increasing crime everywhere, the Khoni villagers here have banned Muslims from outside the village from coming to offer namaz in the village mosque. Muslims from outside the village had come to the village on Friday. The Khoni villagers sent them back. At this time, to avoid untoward incident; a large Police force was kept.

Regarding this, local Hanuman Thombre said, “Every Friday, one and a half thousand Muslims come to our village for namaz. The increasing crime incidents in the surrounding cities, cases of love jihad and atrocities on young girls have created a security issue in the villages. The security of our village is our security. We have no opposition to the locals. Only outsiders have been banned from entering the village and we will continue to ban them. We have the cooperation of the Police administration, we expect them to cooperate in the future.”

Editorial Perspective

It would not be surprising if someone belittles the villagers of Khoni village as ‘intolerant’. The Police, administration and Government must think about why the villagers have come to take such a decision !
