Himachal Pradesh High Court orders electricity board to pay Rs 150 crore due amount
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) – Himachal Pradesh High Court has ordered to auction Himachal Bhawan in Delhi. As the establishment which set up Hydro Power Plant has not paid its dues of Rs 150 crore, High Court has directed the Himachal Government to pay the dues, but Himachal Government did not comply with the Court order. The Court had reserved the verdict. This case pertains to the 400 MW Seli Hydropower Project, in Lahaul – Spiti dist. on the Chenab River Himachal Pradesh. Following a hearing from both the parties, earlier the court had directed the government to pay the upfront premium of Rs 64 crore with 7% interest to the corporation and had warned serious consequences on failing to do so. The court said that the government coffer had the money. After the court issues order, the establishment can auction Himachal Bhawan to recover the amount.
The next course of action will be decided after study – Chief Minister Sukhu
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said, “I have yet not read the Court order. The government is studying the High Court ruling. I will decide the next course of action after discussions with the authorities.”
