Complaint filed against ‘Indian Express’ for maligning Karva Chauth

Delhi High Court Advocate Amita Sachdev files a complaint

(Karva Chauth is a sacred ritual in which wives observe fast throughout the day, without even drinking water, for the long life of husbands)

New Delhi – Indian Express (IE) published a derogatory report on the North Indian festival Karva Chauth. Indian Express reported that such fast can have negative effect on female hormones. Countrywide, the devout Hindus protested against this article and exposed the anti-Hindu stand of the IE. Delhi High Court Advocate Amita Sachdev has filed a written complaint against this article.

In the same year, the same Daily, published an article on 11th March claiming benefits of Roza during Ramzan Period. It claimed that Roza helps to reduce weight, blood sugar problems and control cholesterol. Devout Hindus referred to both the reports, while exposing the Indian Express paper’s anti-Hindu attitude and the paper’s bias for the rituals and beliefs of other religions.

Amita Sachdev has lodged an official complaint via e-mail, to the grievance redressal officer Hritik Shandilya of the Indian Express. She wrote in the e-mail that the report had hurt Hindu religious sentiments and violated the Indian Code of Justice, Indian Information & technology Rule 21 and the Press council of India Act, 1978. The Indian Express should issue an unconditional public apology and give an explanation as per the rules of journalism.

Editorial Perspective

Congratulations to Amita Sachdev, for promptly acting against those who subvert Hindu religious sentiments. Such devout Hindus are the real strength of Sanatan Dharma.
