Sanatan Rakshak Dal state president Ajay Sharma arrested for removing murti of Saibaba from temples in Varanasi

Varanasi (UP) – Sanatan Rakshak Dal state president Ajay Sharma is arrested for removing murti of Saibaba from temples in Varanasi. A case has been registered against him.

1. Deputy Commissioner of Police Gaurav Bansal said that Sanatan Rakshak Dal state president Ajay Sharma has been arrested on charges of disturbing the peace. After the priest of Anandamai temple lodged a complaint against Ajay Sharma, the police registered a case and arrested him under charges of insulting religious traditions, religious places or symbols and disturbing the peace. The management of Sai temple met the police commissioner. It was demanded that security for all the 72 temples in Kashi should be given.

2. The Sanatan Rakshak Dal removed the murti of Sai Baba from 14 temples in Varanasi on October 1. “The murti of Sai Baba will be removed from 60 more temples,” the organisation had said. In Laxmanpuri too, the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has demanded the removal of Saibaba murti from the temples.

3. Following these incidents, The Shirdi Sai Trust in Maharashtra has demanded an immediate halt to such incidents. Shirdi Sai Trust says that it has spoken to the Government of Maharashtra and asked it to discuss the matter with the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Immediate ban on the removal of murti of Sai Baba should be imposed. Such actions are hurting the sentiments of Sai devotees.
