Yadgiri (Karnataka) – The wife of Police Sub-Inspector Parashuram, who died due to a cardiac arrest on Friday, has filed a complaint against Yadgiri Congress MLA Chennareddy Patil Tunnur and his son Pampangouda Sunny Gowda, accusing them of being responsible for his death. Consequently, a case has been filed against the MLA and his son at the Yadgiri City Police Station.
Sub-Inspector Parashuram’s wife, Shweta, alleged, “My husband had succumbed to mental depression due to constant pressure from the MLA and his son. Also, his transfer was against the rules.” According to Shweta’s complaint, her husband told her, ” Injustice was done to me. The MLA and his son demanded Rs 30 lakhs to keep me at the Police station (to stop transfer). When I could not pay, they transferred me.”
The State Government has ordered the transfer of the investigation to the Crime Investigation Department. The Home Ministry has directed the Director General of Police to conduct a thorough investigation.
Chennareddy Patil should immediately resign from his MLA post – BJP
Channa Reddy must accept moral accountability for coercing a Police Sub Inspector into taking his own life. Both he and his son ought to be subjected to an investigation. He should resign immediately from his MLA post taking moral responsibility over the suicide of PSI… pic.twitter.com/sfOaLJ9OIN

BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal posted on ‘X’ that, “Police have filed a case under the Dalit Atrocities Act against Chennareddy for pressuring and harassing a Dalit officer for his transfer. The MLA is indirectly responsible for the officer’s death. Chennareddy should resign immediately from his MLA post taking moral responsibility.”
Editorial Perspective
Congress is well-known for harbouring criminals and its deep-seated corruption. In this case, a thorough investigation of the MLA should lead to severe punishment under manslaughter charges. Since the State is under Congress rule, this case must be handed over to CBI. |
