Chennai – There is no historical proof of Shriram’s existence. People have faith that Shriram was an ‘Avatar’ or manifestation of God himself. Avatar are not born. (Sivasankar (who is) ignorant of the meaning of word ‘Avatar’ has shown his intellectual depravity in this way ! – Editor.) Minister of ruling DMK party of Tamil Nadu, SS Sivasankar made following distressing and baseless statement – Our history has been distorted. There are attempts being made to hide our history and present some other (erroneous) history in front of us. He was speaking at a programme commemorating the birth anniversary of King Rajendra, First king of Chaul kingdom, in Ariylur district near Chennai.
‘There is no historical evidence of Bhagwan Shri Ram’s existence!’ – Statement by Tamil Nadu’s ruling #DMK Minister S.S. Shivshankar
There are numerous historical references to the existence of Bhagwan Shri Ram. Besides this, archaeology and astronomy also confirm Bhagwan Shri… pic.twitter.com/v0KPDeH5Xu

Sivasankar further stated,
King Rajendra Chol built lakes, constructed temples. Inscriptions and handwritten documents are found mentioning king Chol, but there is no historical proof found regarding/ pertaining the existence of Shriram.
On the occasion of inaugurating Shriram mandir in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that Shriram was living there few thousand of years ago. In reality there is no historical proof found of the existence of Shriram. Therefore, this is not (real) history. Society has been misguided by making (such erroneous) claims about Shriram.
Why does DMK party hate Shriram so much? – BJPOn statement of Sivasankar, BJP state president Annamalai said – Why does DMK party hate Shriram so much ? Why did they mention Shriram now only ? When a Sengol (sceptre of old times) of Chol kingdom was kept in the new parliament building, then these very people had (vehemently) opposed it. People who believe that the history of Tamil Nadu begins from the year 1967, are the ones who proclaim newfound love for the rich culture and history of the country. Is this not ridiculous ?
