3 religious fanatics arrested for breaking into a temple and vandalizing the idols in Bareilly (UP)

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) – The Police have arrested Shah Rukh, Arshad and Akram in connection with vandalising the idols of the Deities in Gopeshwar Nath temple at Ijjatnagar, Dist. Bareilly. On the night of July 21, they entered the temple and vandalised. Akram was caught by the mob while they were running away, while Shah Rukh and Arshad escaped. Akram was beaten up by the mob and handed over to the Police. Later, the Police arrested two others. Akram, who was injured due to the assault by the mob, has been admitted to the hospital.

Some attacks on temples in the country in the last few months

1. A Shiva temple in Ludhiana, Punjab was attacked with sharp weapons and 14 idols were vandalised. Also, the Shivling was removed and thrown away.

2. Peepleswar Mahadev temple in Guna District of Madhya Pradesh was vandalised. In this incident, unknown persons broke the temple door, entered and removed the Shivling and threw it on the road.

3. The idols at Shri Hanuman temple in Dubakia village of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh were vandalised.
