Former Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah loses the Lok Sabha elections

Abdul Rashid Shaikh who contested the election from Tihar Jail as an independent candidate wins

Srinagar – Lok Sabha elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370 by the Union Government. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency. Independent candidate Abdul Rashid Shaikh who is confined in Tihar Jail under UAPA has won from Baramulla constituency. Omar Abdullah accepted the defeat and congratulated the independent candidate Abdul Rashid Sheikh.
