5 to 8 times more ice on the moon than expected : New ISRO study

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The moon has 5 to 8 times more ice than previously estimated. It is below the ground and can be found by digging. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) informed that a colony can be based on the moon, as water is in the form of ice.

1. Ice is stored on both the poles of the moon. The ice can be made available by digging the ground. Therefore, human beings can live on the moon for long. Many space agencies all over the world will benefit thereby.

2. According to ISRO, the North Pole has double the quantity of ice on the moon’s South Pole. ISRO stated that the ice on the moon is from the Imbrian period when the moon was in the process of being formed. Air that was released through the active volcano kept collecting in the form of ice under the surface for lakhs of years.
