Drought prone condition in 22 Districts of Tamil Nadu

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) – 22 Districts of Tamil Nadu State are in a drought like condition. The Chief Minister held a meeting to know about the status of available drinking water. Water scarcity may be experienced in the coming days when the intensity of summer starts increasing. The north-eastern and coastal areas of the State received good monsoon rainfall; but in other parts, especially in the western parts, there was relatively less rainfall. Therefore, Chief Minister Stalin ordered that drinking water should be available everywhere for the next 2 months. The Government has made available a fund of Rs 150 crore for water supply.

Heat wave warning in Kerala

The Meteorological Department has warned of heat wave in Kerala for the next 2 days. The temperature in the State has been increasing steadily for the past few days. Palakkad recorded 41 degrees, while Kollam and Thrissur recorded 40 degrees.

Rs 3,499 crore from the Union Government as drought fund for Karnataka

Rs 3,499 crore has been approved by the Union Government for drought relief in Karnataka. The Chief Minister thanked the Court for providing funds for drought relief after receiving a warning to that effect from the Supreme Court.
