Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad demands Police action
Pondicherry – During the Annual Cultural Programme of Pondicherry University, in Ezziny, a Play, Somayanam was presented. In this play the characters of Ramayan were depicted in a distorted and insulting way. The BJP-affiliate Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) from the University has demanded immediate Police action against the Director of the Play Somayanam and other artists. In the name of freedom of expression, some people in the University hurt Hindus’ religious sentiments and mock at their sensitive cultural aspects, said the ABVP students.
This will be justified under ‘Freedom of Expression’:
Students at Puducherry University organised a play based on revered Hindu epic Ramayan. This is how they portrayed Mata Sita.

The derogatory scenes in the Play
1. Before Sita’s abduction, she asks Ravan to partake beef.
2. The play conveys a message that making Sita go through Agni-Pariksha is humiliating.
3. To tell the story of Sita, a new character Geeta was used. Geeta is shown dancing with Ravan.
4. Sita tells Ravan, I am married but we can be friends.
Karyakartas of @ABVPPondicherry University protested against the Department of Performing Arts, Pondicherry University for organising a derogatory play on Prabhu Shri Ram and Mata Sita.
Such actions under the guise of creative liberty are unacceptable. Respect for religious… pic.twitter.com/jLeOVC7TSe

Editorial Perspective
Since there is no severe punishment in the country against those who denigrate Hindu Deities, such incidents continue. This situation makes Hindu Rashtra a necessity. |
