We want to resume trade with India : FM of Pakistan which is on the brink of bankruptcy

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar

London (Britain) – Relations between India and Pakistan have witnessed a major development. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar expressed his desire to resume trade with India. In 2019, India abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, after which Pakistan stopped trade with India. Due to this, Pakistani businessmen have suffered the most and they are not able to take advantage of the Indian market.

At a press conference in London after attending the Nuclear Energy Summit in the Belgian capital, Brussels, Dar commented on reopening of trade with India. He said that Pakistan still receives goods from India, traders said. It reaches Pakistan via Singapore and Dubai, which is very expensive. Pakistani businessmen are eager to trade with India. So, we are seriously considering resuming business with India. I can’t directly answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in this regard.

If India-China can trade, Pakistan should also trade with India – Pakistani merchant

Economic condition of Pakistan is very critical. Every time Pakistan has to go to International Monetary Fund for loans. Many Pakistani experts are saying that if Pakistan wants to improve its economic situation, it should open trade with India. Goods can be bought at cheap prices from India. Also, India is a big market, which Pakistan cannot take advantage of despite being a neighbour. Mian Mohammad Mansha, Chairman of Pakistan’s Nishat Group, had said last year that ‘if China and India can trade in each other’s countries despite the border dispute, then India and Pakistan should also trade.’

Editorial Perspective

Pakistan has stopped trade with India on its own, India did not have to bear the trouble of doing so. Hence, no matter how much Pakistan urges, India should not resume trade with Pakistan. That would be the biggest punishment for Pakistan.
