BAPS Hindu Temple is being inaugurated in Abu Dhabi on 14th February

Abu Dhabi, UAE – A grand BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha) Hindu Temple has been built in the middle of the desert of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This temple is the largest temple in West Asia. The inauguration of BAPS Hindu Temple will be held today (14th February 2024) and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has arrived in Abu Dhabi for this event. Prime Minister Modi will address the Indian diaspora at the ‘Ahlan Modi (Hello Modi)’ event at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on 13th February. 1. Information about the temple :

A. The BAPS Hindu Temple is the first Hindu temple in the UAE.

B. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, donated 13.5 acres of land in January 2019 for the construction of the temple during Prime Minister Modi’s visit in 2015. The foundation stone of the temple was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2017. This grand temple has been built on a total of 27 acres of land.

C. The temple complex includes a study centre, prayer hall, and education centre.

D. The walls of this temple have pictures of Ramayan, Shiv Puran and Shri Jagannath’s chariot procession. Apart from this, a Ganga ghat has been constructed near the temple. The confluence of Ganga-Yamuna and Saraswati is also depicted in this temple.

E. 100 sensors have been installed in the foundation of the temple. These sensors are installed to detect the possibility of earthquakes and changes in temperature. ₹700 crores have been spent on the construction of this temple.

3. Characteristic of the temple

The biggest feature of this temple is that stone is used instead of iron or steel for constructing this temple. This temple is made of pink Rajasthani sandstone and white Italian marble. 40,000 cubic feet of marble has been used in the interior construction of the temple. These stones were carved in India and then transported to the UAE for the construction of the temple. Most importantly, the hot weather in UAE will not affect these stones.

Madhusudan Patel, construction manager of the temple said, ‘Our experience during construction was innovative and we overcame many challenges. We have used heat-resistant nano tiles and heavy glass panels’.
