The Wire claims that they resorted to violence to save their place of worship
New Delhi – Five people were killed in an attack by religious fanatics on the Administration and Police who tried to demolish an unauthorised madrasa in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani. In connection with this violence, a news portal called ‘The Wire’ has attempted to prove the culprits as innocent. A panel discussion was organised by this news portal, which was moderated by Arfa Khanum Sherwani, Editor of The Wire. Journalists Trilochan Bhatt, Umakant Lakhera and Yakut Ali (another editor of The Wire) were included in the panel. The discussion was favoured towards the religious fanatics who attacked the Police and they were declared innocent. The entire blame for this attack was placed on the Administration and the State Government. It was claimed during the discussion that due to the approaching elections, Muslim sentiments were provoked. (What else can be expected from a news portal having two Muslim editors ? Such incidents repeatedly prove that Muslims consider their religious duty as primary and other duties secondary – Editor).
In the discussion, Trilochan Bhatt said, “Administration is going to book them (religious fanatics) under the National Security Act (NSA). Let us admit that they pelted stones but must have done it out of religious sentiment to save their place of worship. (If Hindus also take the law into their hands to reclaim their places of worship seized by the Muslim invaders, will these journalists take the same stand ? – Editor). Will NSA be applied to them ? They are not terrorists. (Does Bhatt think that those who surrounded a Police station and tried to burn the Policemen alive are Gandhians and not terrorists ? – Editor). They are being directly targeted.”
Editorial Perspective
Journalists who support those who attacked and injured more than 100 Policemen, damaged public property and opposed the demolition of unauthorised constructions, should also be booked and imprisoned for supporting violence. |
