Motion tabled in the British Parliament to mark the 34th anniversary of the massacre of Kashmiri Hindus

London – To mark the 34th anniversary of the massacre of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir, a motion was tabled in the British Parliament. 3 British MPs Bob Blackman, Jim Shannon and Virendra Sharma presented this proposal in the House of Commons. It is a way for British MPs to draw the attention of the House towards an event or issue. The motion states that ‘this House commemorates with deep sadness and disappointment, the 34th anniversary of the coordinated attacks in January 1990 by cross-border Islamist terrorists and their supporters on the innocent population of Jammu and Kashmir. This House also expresses its condolences to the families and friends of all those killed, raped, injured and displaced by force in this planned massacre. This is a matter of concern that Kashmiris who fled persecution have still not received justice.’ (Please note that even British MPs have noticed what most Indian MPs could not ! – Editor).

The motion also condemned the continuous killings of Hindus in Kashmir. It further states that the acquisition of properties of the minority Hindu community in Kashmir is still going on. The motion appeals to the Indian Government to fulfil its long-standing international commitment to recognise and acknowledge the worst form of genocide of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir and enact the proposed Panun Kashmir Genocide Crime Punishment and Atrocities Prevention Bill in the Indian Parliament, thereby delivering the much-awaited justice to the Kashmiri Pandit community.

It is a shame that such a proposal is presented in the British Parliament; whereas the Indian Administration of that time never took any efforts to deliver justice to the oppressed Hindus !
